I'm an English specialist. I received 100% in English Literature A Level, before going on to read English Language and Literature at Oxford, where I specialised in Shakespeare and the Romantics. I teach 7+ to University level.

I have taught for six years, and love the opportunity it gives me to keep learning, and to meet so many diverse and interesting students and families.

I started tutoring after University, and have been doing so ever since – I love it. It's part performance (you've got to hold your student's attention!), part masterclass (they've gotta know you're really good), and part mentorship.

I am very open in my classes, embrace my students saying they find things 'boring' (because I know I can turn that around), embrace them speaking their mind and making mistakes, and embrace the competitive element of the exams. In the end, you need to be better than the candidate next to you, you need to win more marks, you need to impress the examiner. I can help you to do that – I have my own formula, tips, and tricks, which don't fail!

I have taught:

- English as a foreign language from beginner to Advanced level

- KS2, KS3 English

- 7+ to 13+ exams (English)

- 11+ English ISEB and public school entrance exams

- (I)GCSE English Language: OCR, Edexcel, AQA

- (I)GCSE English Literature: OCR, Edexcel, AQA

- A-Level English Literature: OCR, Edexcel, AQA

I have successfully guided students to:

- Eton
- Harrow
- Winchester
- Wellington
- St Paul's
- St Paul's Girls
- Latymer
- Godolphin and Latymer
- Westminster
- City of London
and many more.

When I'm not teaching, I like writing my scripts, reading fiction and about politics, and watching films.

I've made two short films this year. One about Man Ray the American photographer, and another based on The White Stones by JH Prynne, an amazing collection of poetry.

The skills required of a great tutor are the same as those required of a successful writer-director: you have to be a kind of trustworthy orbit!
